Whitney Scharer holds an MFA in creative writing from the University of Washington, and her short fiction has appeared in the Bellevue Literary Review, Cimarron Review, New Flash Fiction Review, and other journals. She is the recipient of an Emerging Artist Award in Literature from the St. Botolph Club Foundation, a Somerville Arts Council Artists grant, and residencies at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and Ragdale. For ten years, she was the development and communications director at GrubStreet, and she nowis co-founder and serves on the organizing committee for the Arlington Author Salon. Her debut novel, The Age of Light, follows the life of Lee Miller, a Vogue model turned famed photographer in the twentieth century, and received widespread praise including being the most anticipated book of 2019 from Oprah and Entertainment Weekly and a Boston Globe bestseller.
