Mandeliene Smith is a fiction writer whose work has appeared in Guernica, The Sun, New England Review, and the Massachusetts Review. Nominated for the Pushcart Prize, her short story "Mercy" was also selected by author Stephen King for the list of “100 Other Distinguished Stories” in The Best American Short Stories 2007. With an MFA from Sarah Lawrence College and a BA in comparative literature from Hampshire College, Smith is the author of Rutting Season, her debut collection of short stories which follows men and women in crisis. Author Daphne Kalotay says the book “will leave you looking anew at the world’s dark, dangerous beauty—even ‘the red animal of your own heart.’” Currently she lives in Lexington, Massachusetts.
