Laura Forlano is a social scientist, design researcher, professor, and writer. Her work, which has earned her funding from the National Science Foundation and the Fulbright Award, has appeared in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Business Anthropology, Demonstrations, She Ji, the Information Society, and IEEE Pervasive Computing and Science and Public Policy. She has also had work featured in the New York Times. With a PhD in communications from Columbia University, Forlano is an associate professor at the Institute of Design at the Illinois Institute of Technology and co-editor of From Social Butterfly to Engaged Citizen. Her most recent release, Bauhaus Futures, collects essays, photo essays, interviews, manifestos, diagrams, and a play on the impact and future of the Bauhaus, an experimental laboratory in Weimar, Germany, a century after its founding.
