Juliet Grames

October 20, Dudley Square
Juliet Grames is a book editor, novelist, and publisher and curator of the Soho Press Crime imprint. Grames has had work appear in Publishers Weekly, Words Without Borders, CrimeReads, Anderbo, and Electric Lit. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, Grames grew up in a tight-knit Italian American family, which inspired her debut novel, The Seven or Eight Deaths of Stella Fortuna, which the Washington Post says “achieves what no sweeping history lesson about American immigrants could: It brings to life a woman that time and history would have ignored.” The Seven or Eight Deaths of Stella Fortuna chronicles the Fortunas through one hundred years of family secrets as they emigrate from a rugged Italian village to postwar America.
