James Poniewozik is the chief television critic for the New York Times. Previously, he wrote “Tuned In,” a column critiquing television and related media, for Time Magazine and was the media editor for Salon’s website. Poniewozik’s work has also appeared in Fortune and Rolling Stone. His book, Audience of One: Donald Trump, Television, and the Politics of Illusion, was praised as a “brilliantly witty critique of the cultural archetypes percolating into American politics” and “one of the best analyses yet of the Trump era” in a starred Publishers Weekly review.
