Dariel Suarez is a Cuban-born writer and an inaugural City of Boston Artist Fellow. He received his MFA in fiction from Boston University and is currently the Director of Core Programs and Faculty at GrubStreet. He is the author of the poetry chapbook In the Land of Tropical Martyrs and the widely acclaimed story collection A Kind of Solitude, which was the winner of the 2017 Spokane Prize for Short Fiction. His writing has appeared in publications including the Kenyon Review, Prairie Schooner, Third Coast, the Massachusetts Review, and the Caribbean Writer, where his work was awarded the First Lady Cecile de Jongh Literary Prize.
