Dana Czapnik is a novelist and sports editor, having worked for ESPN The Magazine, the United States Tennis Association, and the Arena Football League. Recipient of an Emerging Writers Fellowship from the Center for Fiction, she holds an MFA from Hunter College, where she was recognized with a Hertog Fellowship. In 2018, Czapnik earned a NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellow in Fiction at the New York Foundation for the Arts, and before that she worked as a fact-checker, journalist, and researcher. Her debut novel, The Falconer, was a New York Times Editor’s Choice Pick and an Oprah Magazine Reading Room Pick and was long-listed for the Center for Fiction's First Novel Prize. Acclaimed by author Ann Patchett as “a novel of huge heart and intelligence,” The Falconer is about a teenage basketball player caught in an unrequited romance with a teammate and a group of radical female artists.
