Andre Dubus III is a novelist with a long and celebrated career. He is the author of the memoir Townie, which is about his troubled childhood in and around Haverhill, Massachusetts, and his difficult relationship with his famous writer father. He is also the author of several novels including The Cage Keeper and Other Stories (1999), House of Sand and Fog (1999), Bluesman (2001), The Garden of Last Days (2008), and Dirty Love (2013). The bestselling House of Sand and Fog was a finalist for the National Book Award and was made into an Academy Award–nominated film. Dubus also narrates his own audiobooks; his reading of Townie won an Audiofile Best Voices of the Year award, and his performance for the Dirty Love audiobook earned him an Earphones award. His work has won the National Magazine Award for Fiction, two Pushcart Prizes, and the 2012 American Academy of Arts and Letters Award in Literature. Dubus, who is a Guggenheim fellow, is currently a professor at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. His latest novel, Gone So Long, was called "compassionate and wonderful" by Publishers Weekly in a starred review.
