Gloria Respress-Churchwell is a children’s author, documentarian, and both a fiction and nonfiction writer. Her documentary and fictional history of Robert Churchwell, the “Jackie Robinson of Journalism,” is now on permanent display at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Her picture book debut, Follow Chester!, explores the true story of Dr. Chester Pierce, the first African American to play college football south of the Mason-Dixon line.
